The core aspects of this role are superior customer service; proactive stakeholder and scope management; and detailed project communication and documentation. This is an entry-level project management position. The candidate will be assigned to assist with project coordination, documentation and management of smaller-scale projects or maintenance activities the West Virginia Office Of Technology (WVOT) performs for its executive branch agency clients. The focus will be on application development and office moves coordination. The candidate will be expected to develop positive, ongoing relationships with the project stakeholders, internal and external to WVOT. The candidate will work within the WVOT project team to insure the business requirements, scope, schedule and costs are delivered to specification. The candidate will create project status reports, stakeholder meeting notes and week-ending updates about the project he or she manages.
The successful candidate will:
1) hold regular client meetings;
2) write notes and escalate critical project issues;
3) participate in steering committees;
4) maintain project information in project online;
5) work with clients on project scopes, schedules and budgets;
6) assist the project team with accessing and securing WVOT resources needed for the project;
7) provide proactive client support and communication;
8) document, monitor and report on project issues and risks;
9) maintain documents on project extranet sites;
10) create and report relevant project metrics - such as auditing estimated v. actual costs.
The project coordinator contributes to the professionalism and growth of WVOT's PMO by striving for the continuous improvement of the state's processes and procedures, representing WVOT with the highest degree of professionalism when working with other state agencies.
