PMI West Virginia/Ohio Valley Chapter

Celebrating 20 Years of Service!

eric kirkland

Welcome to the Project Management Institute (PMI) West Virginia/Ohio Valley Chapter web site. We hope you find this site useful and informative.

The Chapter’s primary mission continues to be to advance the practice and profession of project management; encourage and facilitate education, certification and professionalism in project management; provide a forum for discussion and examination of problems, solutions, applications and ideas related to the management of project; disseminate information regarding developments in project management; and advance the general and specific purposes of PMI.As the President for 2016-2018, I want express my gratitude to all of our Board members current and past. Special thanks are due Mr. Ron Madurski, our president for the past two years and president-elect for two years prior to that, devoted countless hours to benefit the chapter. As past-president, we look forward to Ron’s continued leadership. With this change, Mr. Phil Loftis, who was past-president, president, and president-elect over the prior six years, has left the Board having given us about a decade of service. Phil has promised to remain active as a volunteer to help the Chapter continue its membership services and growth. Thank you Ron and Phil!

Your Board continues to seek your help in creating opportunities for knowledge and networking. We are piloting webinars for monthly meetings to make our monthly chapter meetings more accessible to more of you and to bring a wider variety of guests speakers. We also are looking for ways to hold community-level meetings for our members to interact with one another and members of the Board. We always appreciate your input on what you would like to see offered.

We also need to increase our membership. For example, there are a considerable number of PMI members who are not Chapter members. While we have succeeded in growing to more than 160 Chapter members, we need to continue to grow to ensure our ability to represent the Chapter at regional and national PMI events. I am open to ideas to encourage growth by offering programs and events that address the new PMI Continuing Certification Requirements System (CCRS) and its new allocation of PDU requirements to the triad of Technical Knowledge, Leadership, and Strategic and Business Communications. Our annual formal training sessions include Professional Development Days and PMP Prep courses. Your ideas are welcome!

There are meaningful opportunities for the Members to volunteer their expertise to benefit one another and to add value to our Chapter. Our goal is to expand volunteer participation within the Chapter and to provide services to the worthy public service agencies in West Virginia and the Ohio Valley.

Finally, Our Board is a dedicated group of volunteers that strives to accomplish the Chapter’s mission. We will accomplish this mission by identifying and prioritizing opportunities to specifically undertake that which will benefit our current membership or potential membership; and create and enhance partnerships with the business, educational and charitable communities.

If you have any questions about our organization or the opportunities I have previously mentioned; suggestions for membership activities or services or suggestions for web site improvements, please send me an e-mail at President@wvovpmi.org. Thank you!
