Abstract: The Internet of Things is receiving a lot of press today, it has been with us for some time but now it is becoming the norm. The focus of this session is the following:
- IOT
- Definitions of IOT
- Applications of IOT
- Major Companies investing in IOT
- What are typical security concerns as viewed by IT?
- What are the issues with respect to security?
- Traditional Security Practices (SANS Top 20)
- IOT network issues
- Designed to operate without attention

Speaker Bio: Keith Morgan is the Information Technology Director at the West Virginia Lottery with responsibility for over 3,000 remote nodes involving Lottery Products and managing two data centers.
Prior to that he was a partner with Arnett Carbis Toothman (ACT), an accounting firm headquartered in Charleston WV, with offices in West Virginia and Ohio. He was responsible for IT consulting including IT audits, security engagements, SOC audits, computer forensics and ethical hacking. He provided IT security services to banks throughout our service area. He also managed a high volume of healthcare projects at hospitals throughout the region, focusing on IT consulting and healthcare initiatives in West Virginia such as rate applications or certificate of need applications. He has conducted multiple security related engagements at almost every hospital in West Virginia and a large number in surrounding states.
Keith has testified as a computer expert in various courts in the state and is a frequent speaker on IT related topics, most recently with a group of WV state CIO’s through a Marshall University Program on Information Technology.
He was one of the co-founders of the original WV PMI and is currently a member of the WV/OV chapter as well as national PMI, and serves as a board member in the WV/OV chapter.
Keith is also currently a board member and past treasurer for AIDE, the Appalachian Institute of Digital Evidence, a non-profit allied with Marshall University and focusing on training and education related to computer forensics, Information Security and Digital Evidence.
