WV/OV Chapter of PMI is pleased to announce that its regularly scheduled member meeting for August 16 will be provided via Webex to those registered in advance. Registration is free, and membership in the Chapter or PMI is not required. Registration is active now.

"Back to Basics" Abstract:

Adult learners do better with hands on; simulation is a great tool to achieve higher level of learning. I use little mini simulation exercises teaching the PMICOC, PMP Cert course. The simulation begins with a scenario. Then a participative guided discussion. I relate basic relevant PMBOK tools with mini lectures inserted.

Processes

1. Identify and analyze Stakeholders.
2. Develop Communication Plan to help manage Stakeholders.
3. Perform Quantitative Risk Analysis and develop responses.

Objectives

1. Re- Introduce some PMBOK Fundamentals and Tools
2. Show the PMBOK as a project system, not an exam reference.
3. Goal, motivate seasoned PMP's to go back to BASICS

Will move at a very fast pace with 1 hour format/constraint.

Presenter Bio:

In a former life Mark Collins was U.S. Army line unit Instructor pilot. His job not only evaluated trained pilots for maintenance of the basic skills but prepared them for tactical missions and skills to support and participate in the organizations tactical mission. He used simulation extensively both in table top and in Battle Drill format. The Instructor Pilot Handbook talks about 4 levels of learning. Rote, Understanding, and the skills of Application, and Correlation. He found that the adult learner achieved the higher levels of learning when situational simulation is used. His training objectives always strive to develop the skills to Apply and Correlation not simply to understand and pass a test.
