West Virginia / Ohio Valley Chapter of PMI is proud to present a lunch-time member meeting featuring a discussion by John Jarrett, P.E., of Jarrett Construction Services, regarding his company's implementation of the Last Planner System (LPS) lean construction tool.  This meeting will be held at the West Virginia State University Economic Development Center (EDC) at 1506 Kanawha Boulevard West in Charleston, WV.  Advance registration is required at the Chapter's web site.  1 PDU in the technical triangle area will be awarded for participation in this event.  A lunch meal will be provided; cost for members is $10, cost for non-members is $15 (you must log into the WVOVPMI site using your PMI credentials to obtain the discounted rate).

Presentation abstract:Lean is the new fat and is taking the construction industry by storm.  Lean construction, adapted from principles of the popular lean manufacturing industry, is currently creating a lot of buzz.  A practical and useful tool within the lean construction tool box is the Last Planner System® (LPS).  Jarrett Construction incorporated LPS into its everyday life recently.  In the process, its people, as well as its subcontractors and suppliers, have had to open themselves up to a complete paradigm shift from how it has managed projects for the last 20 years.  Listen and learn as Jarrett shares about his company's experience.

Speaker BIO: Mr. John Jarrett is President of Jarrett Construction Services, Inc., a full-service regional construction company headquartered in Charleston, West Virginia.  He brings almost three decades of experience in the construction industry and is a registered Professional Engineer in West Virginia and Virginia.  Jarrett received his bachelor's degree in civil engineering from West Virginia University Institute of Technology.  He has completed graduate level studies at George Washington University in engineering administration and has been involved in numerous contruction industry programs and seminars.
